sandy blalock

Sandy Blalock

Sandy began her full-time career in auto recycling in 1993 when her family purchased her father-in-law’s interest in the 10-year-old company Capo’s Truck and Auto Parts in Albuquerque, NM. During her management of the family business Sandy also served on the NM Automotive Recyclers Association Board for 17 years and 4 years as President.

During her time on this board, she was actively involved in state legislation to change the licensing for automotive recyclers and legislation that mandates non-repairable vehicles only being sold to licensed automotive recyclers in New Mexico.

Sandy represented NMARA as the government affairs liaison for many years. She is the recognized spokesperson for the industry in New Mexico for public relations and media. In December 2009 the business was sold, and Sandy chose to direct her full attention to being an industry advocate working with several state associations.

During her auto recycling career, she served on the Executive Committee of ARA, President of ARA, member and President of the ARA Educational Foundation, member of the Government Affairs Committee, Affiliate Chapters Committee, State Chairperson, Regional Director and Budget Committee. She considers involvement with recycling associations paramount to success in our industry.

Sandy has been the Executive Director of the Automotive Recyclers Association since April 2018. She will leave that position at the end of October 2024 and focus her energy on managing several state associations.
